Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has had to delete a tweet that he posted this morning, after crowing that illegal small boat crossings of the Channel were down by 20% since the start of the year. Then 703 illegal immigrants crossed the channel in 14 small boats on Saturday and Sunday (10 – 11th June).
Today over 500 more are believed to have made the crossing. Whilst the numbers have reduced recently, it is thought to be because we have had the worst wind in the channel for years. It is certainly nothing to do with the Conservative Party and its policies.
The Tories, with their Rwanda deportations and asylum ‘prison’ ships, are trying to fool our people into believing that they are the Party to stop the invasion of Britain. According to the organisation Migration Watch, “As for Conservative supporters, 73% favour a reduction in immigration, with 49% saying they want a reduction by a lot. Among those who voted Conservative in 2019 but who no longer support the party that figure is 86%, suggesting that immigration was one reason for their abandoning the party” (22.07.22).
In a 2010 interview ahead of the general election, former Tory Prime Minister David Cameron said his government would reduce net migration to the “tens of thousands” to stop the UK population going over 70 million. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), the figure stood at 252,000 that year.
In 2011, a year after winning office, Cameron doubled down on the pledge, saying it would be achieved by the 2015 election, “no ifs, no buts”. But when that vote came around, the number was up to 379,000. And so it goes on. The anti-Brexiteer Teresa May talked tough about immigration, but did nothing. Similarly, the clown Boris Johnson and his immigration policy was a farce.
Net migration to Britain reached record levels last year, with 606,000 people arriving. The cold fact is that the Conservatives don’t want to reduce immigration. Mass immigration is a tool to keep British wages low. Over forty years ago, Margaret Thatcher talked about people feeling ‘swamped’ by immigration before the 1979 General Election. It was a cynical ploy to steal the National Front’s thunder. And unfortunately it worked.
Rich Tory donors will continue to put pressure on the Party to let more in. They require cheap labour to fill their poorly-paid, unattractive jobs. Well-off Tory voters in the South of England need immigrants to fill the vacancies for nannies and domestics. And so the Tory Party goes on pretending that it understands the concerns of the people over the changing face of Britain. Don’t let these traitors ever fool you again.
