Taking a critical look at population impact reports on a ‘diverse’ Sheffield district.
Over recent weeks a number of independent pod-cast video-bloggers have visited Sheffield to make recorded walk through the city centre and along the streets of its most ‘diverse’ districts.
Once a cradle of Britain’s Industrial Revolution, Sheffield was known as the ‘Steel City’. Unfortunately, politically, Sheffield has long been a stronghold of the socialist Left, dominated by the Labour Party, but with a history of activity by the Communists, International Marxists and assorted militant left-wing groups.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s the assorted organs of left-wing politics would boast that Sheffield was the capital city of ‘The People’s Republic of South Yorkshire’, a broad territory that took in Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and the surrounding smaller towns and villages. However of these satellites to the ‘Steel City’, only Rotherham suffered the similar high levels of colonisation by non-European immigrants. In Sheffield, districts like Burngreave, Pitsmoor, and Page Hall reflect the diversity imposed on Sheffield by mass Third World immigration over recent decades.
Typically the political Left exalts the joys of a multicultural city and liberal and ‘progressive’ journalists take every opportunity to present articles and reports that reflect this stance. “The ‘beautiful’ Sheffield community of Burngreave which refugees have changed beyond recognition The area is one of Sheffield’s most multicultural areas – and people love living there.”
And there is more….. “Burngreave became the new home for immigrants from the Caribbean, Pakistan and Yemen, among other countries, as they formed part of a new workforce in the city. This was just the start of multiculturalism in the area and since the 1990s, Somalians, Chileans and Slovaks are just some of the nationalities who have moved to Burngreave and helped to cement its position as one of the most ethnically diverse neighbourhoods in the Steel City.”
The main Sheffield newspaper, ‘The Star’ ran this article in 2022;
Burngreave Sheffield: Is it a frightening place to live in?
By Hajra Akbar
“Burngreave is often seen as a major hotspot of serious crime, but is the community really just about fear, crime and isolation? It is one of the most multicultural areas in Sheffield, with most of the population born in a foreign country but it has a reputation of being a daunting place to live with the stereotype of crime-riddled streets.”
Note that ‘The Star’ chose an apprentice journalist, a young Asian woman to pen an article praising the vibrant diversity of the Birngreave district and denying the idea that a cosmopolitan population meant criminality.
However this glossy facade presented by the Cultural Marxists is not universally shared and this extract from a report by a security company tells a somewhat different version of life in Sheffield; “Sheffield, known for its rich industrial history and vibrant culture, is one of the largest cities in the UK and the second largest city in the Yorkshire and the Humber region. While it remains a popular destination for students, families and businesses, like any city, Sheffield faces issues relating to crime.”
According to recent statistics reported by CrimeRate UK, Sheffield has a crime rate of 106 crimes per 1,000 people, slightly lower than South Yorkshire’s overall rate of 110 per 1,000 daytime population. The city centre faces the highest rate of violence and sexual offences, with residential areas Darnall and Burngreave following closely behind.
These types of offences are often linked to poverty, social tensions and gang activity and pose significant risks to residents. Areas with more nightlife venues, like the city centre, also see elevated levels of alcohol-related violence, particularly on weekends. Once again Burngreave crops up as an area where crime is a problem, but another immigrant dominated area, Page Hall, also attracts our focus.
One video blogger sarcastically said that in one of his recent You Tube channel video reports that he was able to visit India without leaving the UK by filming in the Sheffield district of Page Hall. Back in 2020 Page Hall was the focus of violence between competing ethnic minorities, a reflection of tensions between recently arrived colonisers and the longer established immigrant communities.
The violence was erupting as conflict grew between Slovak Roma and Pakistanis. The local news media lamented: “So where has it all gone wrong on Page Hall? Why is there so much tension and violence and what is being done to stop it?
“The area has also been known for its multiculturalism – but also for its deprivation. It is one of Sheffield’s poorest estates and unfortunately it seems there is a lack of pride in appearance with terraced streets rife with litter, rubbish and even rats.
“One of the biggest ethnic groups in the area is the Roma community and according to a spokeswoman for Firvale Community Hub, the weekend’s disputes emanated from a feud within that community. The community hub, which is in the heart of Page Hall, is attempting to unify and harmonise all the different ethnic groups in the area and it prides itself as an “award winning organisation committed to improving social equalities and inclusion for communities experiencing disenfranchisement and marginalisation in Sheffield.
“It welcomes new arrivals, promotes diversity and has never let poverty and strife divide the community. However, recent events have left a scar on Page Hall, according to the hub’s spokeswoman and she is determined to ensure violence does not become the norm in the area.” So there was racial tensions and violence and not a White British ‘racist’ anywhere in sight!
Meanwhile in these days of ‘Community cohesion’ and ‘Cultural sensitivity’, South Yorkshire Police follow the politically correct line and in this report from 2021, their carefully crafted wording says it all: “Sheffield has an estimated population of 584,853 residents. It is ethnically diverse with around 19% of its population from ethnic minority groups. The largest of those groups is the Pakistani community, Sheffield also has large Caribbean, Indian, Bangladeshi, Somali, Yemeni, and Chinese communities.
“For the purposes of the submission and in line with internal organisational practices we will use the term ethnic minorities to refer to all ethnic groups except the White British Group. Ethnic minorities include White minorities, such as Gypsy, Roma and Irish Traveller groups.
- If required reference will be made to either ‘aggregated’ ethnic groups or ethnic groups as a whole. For example, ‘the Black ethnic group as a whole’.”
*** Note that South Yorkshire Police class Roma and Gypsy as being ethnically ‘White” when as most Eastern European racial Nationalists will correctly point out that the Roma are not racially European but are descended from migrating tribes from southern Asia.
It goes without saying that left-wing journalists in the mainstream media ‘celebrate diversity’ in Sheffield and promote the idea that the incoming immigrants are ‘enriching’ the city in terms of culture and future heritage, making the city more ‘vibrant’ and an improvement on the older British working class traditions.
Typical of the changes that the progressive left are celebrating is this report from Yorkshire Live – 30th December 2024:
“Plans to convert a former pub in Sheffield into a place of worship have been approved. The Old Hallcar Tavern in Burngreave, which has been closed since 2009, will be used as a community facility and faith centre in future. The Afghan Community Association, which applied for planning permission for the two-storey building, said it would host Muslim prayers, community meetings and education sessions.” Another White working-class British pub lost to the city.
The pub closed in 2009 like so many other traditional pubs in former working class neighbourhoods which have become overwhelmed by non-European immigrants, just like areas of Bradford, Dewsbury, Batley, Keighley and Rotherham, large scale settlement by Asian Muslims means that those pubs no longer have a local client base and are forced to close. A sad pattern being repeated across many Northern towns and cities.
Is this evidence of the Great Replacement impacting Sheffield?

The statistics above tell a depressing story of colonisation of some districts of Sheffield, a quick glance at the population percentages quickly identifies which are the most deprived and which are the most affluent. In addition it also identifies that the more outlying districts are more obviously White and British in character.
When the statistics above refer to “Born outside UK”, they are more often than not referring to immigrants from Asia, Africa and the Middle East, non-Europeans.
The mainstream media continues to insist that the ‘Great Replacement’ theory is just a “racist fantasy”. The evidence of former White British working class districts of Sheffield such as Burngreave proves that it is not just a ‘conspiracy theory’ but is becoming a permanent reality. Unless there is radical political change in Britain.
